Barry Whitfield

Barry received a MFA-IA from Goddard College. He is a scenographer, set, lighting and costume designer. He is currently the Theatre Manager and Technical Director for the Performing Arts Center at the University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg.

Barry received meritorious design awards from The Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival for his set and lighting design for Picnic and Our Country’s Good, the sets for Nunsense and The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, Look Homeward Angel, Very Still and Hard to See, Let the Right One In and most recently for his set design of Fuddy Meers. Barry has also worn the hats of actor and director.

Barry has taught classes in WYSIWYG Design, Technical Directing, Costume History, Scenography, Sound Design and Costume Design.
