Elena Velasco (she/ella) is a theatre artist whose work is grounded in decolonized, consensus-organized processes and structures. An associate member of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, her director/choreographer include Convergence Theatre (Founding Artistic Director), GALA Hispanic Theatre, Adventure Theatre, Keegan Theatre, Imagination Stage, Mead Theatre Lab, Young Playwrights' Theater, Capital Fringe, Source Theatre, Discovery Theater, Kennedy Center's New Visions New Voices Festival and Central Square Theater (Greater Boston). A commissioned playwright and theatre researcher, she has contributed to publications for Routledge and Intellect Books and has written several TYA musicals. She has been a featured speaker for Boston Conservatory at Berklee, George Mason University, Montgomery College, and Theatre Washington. Ms. Velasco is the theatre production coordinator and an associate theatre professor at Bowie State University. MFA in Directing, Catholic University.
